In 1908, construction began on
a single-story residence for Deroy
Spaulding on the southeast corner
of Fifth Avenue and Thorn Street.
The charming three-bedroom
Craftsman-style home featured beamed ceilings, quarter-sawn oak
flooring, and a large covered front porch facing Fifth Avenue.
Ten years later in 1918, at 3227 Fifth, near Spruce Street, a
two-story building with a salesroom, office,
and residential quarters opened. The
building served as headquarters for Silent
Waverly, an electric car company, and
housed a generator capable of charging as
many as 40 electric vehicles at one time.
Today, this historic site is being
transformed into a truly unique condominium community. Through
sensitive and resourceful planning, Mayfair Homes has retained
several historical features of the Spaulding residence, recreated
architectural elements of the Waverly building, added a third, more
contemporary façade, and incorporated all into an eclectic,
eye-appealing design. Welcome to Trilogy on 5th!
